MUMBA BRA – FITTING ROOM GUIDE

If you're pregnant, between 6 weeks — 5 months. Your bra should fit on the tightest or the middle hook at the back. This will give you space to grow into your Mumba Bra.

If you're pregnant, between 5 months — 9 months. Your bra should fit on the middle or the loosest hook. Because your rib cage has expanded to accommodate your baby. After your baby is born, you'll be able to tighten your Mumba Bra and continue to wear.

If you're already breastfeeding, buy your Mumba Bra to fit your current bra size e.g. 34 C.

How to measure yourself for a nursing bra?

You'll need to determine two things – your rib band and cup size. Only two measurements!

  • To calculate your band size, (i.e. 32, 34, 36, 38, etc) measure directly under your bust. Place the measuring tape firmly around your ribcage, just beneath your breasts. Stand in front of a mirror to check that the tape runs straight across your back and stays level. The tape should feel snug but not tight. If you measure between two numbers for example 33.6 inches, then round off to the next whole number example 34 to get your band size.

  • Now to find your cup size, (this is the letter in your bra size) Measure across the fullest part of your bust, usually across the nipples. Keep the measuring tape straight and
parallel to the floor. Make sure it is not too tight or too loose.

Again, round off to the next whole number.

  • Once you have both measurements, all you need to do now is subtract your band measurement (from step 1) from your bust
measurement (from step 2). The difference calculates your bra size – each inch
represents a cup size. For example, if you measure a 34 inch band size, and a 36 inch cup
    size, the difference is 2: which would indicate a B cup. 36-34 = 2, 2 equates to a B cup

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS By Mums

If you’re currently pregnant and in the first trimester of your pregnancy, your breasts are likely to feel tender and swollen. Your old bras may fit you, but if you’re experiencing a tingling sensation, your old bras may feel uncomfortable against your skin. You can begin wearing your Mumba Bra at this stage.

Choose a Mumba Bra size that caters for the bra size you’re currently wearing, and you want to be able to close your bra on the tightest hooks at this stage of your pregnancy.

If you’re in the second or third trimester, most of your growth at this stage is around your rib cage. This is because your body is expanding to make room for your baby to grow. Some women will also see their cup size increase by one or two sizes too.

If you’re buying your maternity bra at this stage, you can go ahead and choose the bra size you used to wear. The reason for this is because you’re only larger around your rib cage due to your baby bump. But from around 38 weeks, your baby will drop down getting ready for birth, so you’ll feel some small release in your bras around your rib cage and furthermore after your baby is born.

Therefore, your bra should fit comfortably on the loosest setting around your rib cage at this stage, to allow you to tighten it once your baby is born.

Many pregnant women experience breast changes, but plenty of others don’t – and that’s normal too. Some women’s breasts simply don’t change much during pregnancy; however, you will notice changes when your milk comes in after your baby is born! So, choose a Mumba Bra that accommodates your current bra size. The stretch and the flexibility in our bras, have already considered the changes in your breast size.

Measure yourself and follow the size guide to choose the size of the bras that you are wearing now. Our stretchy fabric will allow for any fluctuations during breastfeeding.

The Mumba Bra has been designed to grow with you throughout your pregnancy. It’s advance fabric composition, makes it extremely comfortable to wear, that you won’t want to take it off! But just in case you have to, we advise that you buy a minimum of two, so that you have to wear and one in the wash for tomorrow!
